Madison Square Garden partnering with fingerprint and iris recognition service

Madison Square Garden has been using facial recognition technology for security purposes, and they’re getting ready to expand their identity recognition arsenal beyond that, too. They announced a partnership with CLEAR, a company that uses biometrics like fingerprint and iris scans to replace traditional paper ID. CLEAR is available in over 40 airports, stadiums, and other venues around the country, with MSG to be the latest place it arrives.

In a press release, MSG and CLEAR say that the partnership will provide “frictionless” access for attendees:

CLEAR members can expedite their entry into MSG through a dedicated lane where, after the touch of a finger, they enter MSG for a physical screening. CLEAR Ambassadors are available to assist fans with a fast, one-time enrollment process that combines a person’s identification and biometrics into a single CLEAR ID.

CLEAR lanes and enrollment will open one hour before events begin at MSG, at the 7th Ave South entrance.

In NYC, Citi Field and Yankee Stadium are already CLEAR locations, in addition to JFK and LaGuardia Airports.
