Makthaverskan releasing a new 7" (listen to "Witness")

One of the better overlooked albums of 2013/2014 (depending on what country you live in) was Swedish post-punks Makthaverskan‘s sophomore album, II, and today they’ve put out their first single since that album, “Witness.” It’s the A-side to their new single which will be available on their upcoming US tour and on Record Store Day via Run for Cover.

With an intro that sounds like a post-punk version of The Offspring’s “Change the World” or The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” “Witness” is all furious drumming, razor-sharp guitars, and the cathartic howls of singer Maja Milner. It’s up there with the best songs on II. You can and should check it out below.

Makthaverskan’s tour is with post-hardcore band Self Defense Family and dark punks Creative Adult, and it hits NYC on March 4 at Saint Vitus and March 8 at The Studio at Webster Hall. Tickets for Vitus and Webster are still available.
