Malcolm Mooney playing NYC after Can 50th anniversary celebration in London

It’s the 50th anniversary of krautrock icons Can, and that The Can Project show — featuring founding member Irmin Schmidt, original vocalist Malcolm Mooney, as well as Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley along with The London Symphony Orchestra — will take place at London’s Barbican on April 8. The show was originally to have included drummer Jaki Liebezeit who sadly died in January. Not too long after The Can Project show, Malcolm Mooney will be in NYC to play Rough Trade on April 17. We’re not sure what other musicians he’ll be playing with, but tickets are on sale.

Also on the bill: Queens-based artist BLKLN who has previously collaborated with John Zorn, Jon Hassell, Henry Kaiser and others.

UPDATE: The Can Project also play Glastonbury.
