Man arrested for bomb threat that canceled The Roots' SXSW show

A man was arrested Saturday night (3/17) for allegedly placing a bomb threat to the 5th Street Fair Market in Austin, TX where The Roots were to have performed that night. Trevor Weldon Ingram, 26, was arrested on charges of Terroristic Threat, a third-degree felony:

The Roots were scheduled to play their third annual The Roots & Friends Jam at the Fair Market tonight with Ludacris, Dermot Kennedy, Jessie Reyez, Rapsody, Tank & the Bangas, Moon Taxi, and others but abruptly canceled the show, citing “security concerns.” Questlove shared and then deleted a Tweet around 8:30 PM, in which he described a “severe emergency.” In a subsequent post, he wrote, “Welp. It’s 2018. Show cancelled. These are the times we now live in.” This morning Questlove tweeted, “no one is Mr ‘show must go on’ than me. But we can’t risk our lives if we are told there was a bomb threat. I’m sure we will return to Austin ladies and gentlemen. Thanks for understanding.”

Saturday’s threat followed three package explosions in Austin earlier this month, which killed two people; Austin PD believe the bombs were connected, but do not have an apparent relation to the SXSW festival.
