Man Man "give away" new album "now" (wink wink) ahead of Friday's release date

Man Man are releasing Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between, their first new full-length record in nearly seven years this Friday, May 1 via Sub Pop. In anticipation of the release, the band went live on Reddit today at 2 PM ET. During the AMA session, Man Man frontman Honus Honus surprised fans, saying, “Want to hear the new album? Figured I’d give it away to y’all early. ;)” with a link to a 46-minute YouTube video:

The video’s description reads:

“It’s been a really crazy time for everyone & everything seems truly upside down these days. Since this album is officially dropping soon, we figured it was as good a time as any to just give it away to y’all for free here. Enjoy!”

Upon taking the time to listen, it’s immediately clear that something’s a little off: the vocals for the whole record have been replaced with samples of Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ “Give It Away.” With this gag, Man Man have taken rickrolling (or rather, Chili Peppering?), to a spicier level. You can listen below.

Thankfully, though, fans don’t have to wait much longer to hear the actual record and you can listen to the album’s three singles — “Cloud Nein,” “Future Peg,” and “On the Mend” — below.

If you’re looking to pick this album up you might want to buy it on Friday (5/1) via Bandcamp, who are conveniently waiving their cut of the profits yet again (and they’ll be doing it on the first Friday of June and July, too!).
