Marc Ribot and the Young Philadelphians -- Live in Tokyo

Marc Ribot & the Young Philadelphians releasing 'Live in Tokyo,' playing release shows ++ other tour dates

Accomplished jazz/experimental/everything guitarist Marc Ribot stays very busy playing shows in many configurations. One of them is with The Young Philadelphians, a band that includes guitarist Mary Halvorson, and Philly soul musicians Jamaaladeen Tacuma, and G. Calvin Weston, on bass and drums respectively. The band describe themselves as “where deco meets disco meets decon” and on the LP Live In Tokyo they offer very different interpretations of ’70s classics like “Love Roller Coaster” and “The Hustle.” That record came out last year in Germany but will get a U.S. release on July 29. You can check out “The Hustle” and “Do It Any Way You Want” (originally by People’s Choice) below.

Marc Ribot & the Young Philadelphians (with Chris Cochrane subbing for Halvorsen) will be playing a few shows in support of the live LP including one at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on July 28Tickets for that show go on sale Wednesday (5/25) at noon.
