Margo Price announces new Sturgill Simpson-produced album, shares song

Margo Price recently signed to Loma Vista and released her first proper single in two years, “Stone Me,” and now she has announced a new album featuring that song, the just-released “Twinkle Twinkle,” and eight others. It’s called That’s How Rumors Get Started, and it was produced by fellow crossover country great Sturgill Simpson, with additional production from Margo herself and Sturgill collaborator David Ferguson. Featured musicians include Jeremy Ivey (Margo’s husband), pianist Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), guitarist Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Zwan), bassist Pino Palladino (Elton John, D’Angelo), drummer James Gadson (Marvin Gaye, Beck), and the Nashville Friends Gospel Choir. The album drops May 8 via Loma Vista (pre-order).

A press release touts That’s How Rumors Get Started as an album that “[commits] her sky-high and scorching rock-and-roll show to record for the very first time,” and you can very much hear the rock and roll on “Twinkle Twinkle,” which goes in a similar riffy, boogie-ing direction to Sturgill’s last album. (“Stone Me” was more on the classic Margo Price side.) Listen and watch the Matthew Siskin-directed video below.

Margo also has upcoming tour dates, including New York’s Mountain Jam, shows with Chris Stapleton, and more. All dates are listed below.
