UK artists Marika Hackman and The Big Moon wrapped up their North American tour on Wednesday night (8/16) at Brooklyn's Baby's All Right. The Big Moon backed up Marika on this year's Sub Pop debut, I'm Not Your Man, as well as this tour, and clearly there is a lot of love between them as evidenced by their terrific show. There is an undeniable chemistry, too, and perhaps gravity: when they weren't singing, they all tended to pull to the middle of the stage, vibing off each other's playing. When they were on the mike, they were nailing the ethereal harmonies heard on Marika's records. It was all very infectious, and that feeling was also clearly mutual from the audience, judging from the constant shouts of "we love you!" from the crowd.

The set was mostly from I'm Not Your Man but earlier, folkier songs like "Ophelia" and "Cinnamon" translated just fine to more indie rock arrangements. There was no encore, but Marika said they'd be back soon. Great show. Setlist and video of them playing "My Lover Cindy" at Baby's are below and photos are in the gallery above.

The Big Moon, whose new album Love in the 4th Dimension is vying for this year's Mercury Prize, opened with their own set and the crowd seemed to be just as into them as Marika, but when they come together, there is real magic in the mixture.
