Marilyn Manson featured in upcoming HBO series ‘The New Pope’

For those who've been waiting for a news headline with both "The Pope" and "Marilyn Manson" in it, this is as close as you're probably going to get today. The veteran shock rocker is among the cast in Paolo Sorrentino’s upcoming HBO series The New Pope, which is a follow-up to to 2016's The Young Pope. No plot details have been revealed -- the show is an anthology series, like Fargo, that is only loosely related season-to-season -- but The New Pope also stars Sharon Stone, John Malkovich and Jude Law (who played the titular character in The Young Pope). That's an official press image above (via Variety), though, and stay tuned for more on the show.

Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson will be on the "Twins of Evil" tour this summer with Rob Zombie.
