Portland guitarist Marisa Anderson released her first album for Thrill Jockey, Cloud Corner, last week, and today she put out a video for "Lift." As Thrill Jockey puts it, "Rooted in American folk music, her pieces are inspired by 20th century classical and West African guitar techniques. The results are revelatory. Written and recorded in a period of political and personal upheaval, the album was created as a refuge, an ode to stillness in an era of ceaseless noise." The album is sort of somewhere between the folk guitar of someone like Daniel Bachman and the most post-rock-leaning guitar of someone like Noveller, and if you're into either of those things, you'll probably like this album too. Stream it and watch the new video below.

Marisa is also on tour now, hitting Seattle with Joan Shelley tonight (6/19), and she'll be on the road through Pickathon in August. She also has dates with Sarah Louise, Glenn Jones, Tara Jane O'Neil and Nathan Bowles.

The run with Tara Jane O'Neil hits Brooklyn's Union Pool on July 8 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
