Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, Mutoid Man) met in 2014 when Brodsky attended one of Nadler's shows at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus, hit it off immediately and began talking about making a record that didn't exactly fit in either of their respective wheelhouses. Flash forward five years and we have Droneflower, their collaborative album which will be out April 26 via Sacred Bones. In addition to the smoky, noirish originals Marissa & Stephen also do two covers on the album: Guns n’ Roses power ballad “Estranged” and Morphine’s beguiling “In Spite of Me” (which features Morphine saxophonist Dana Colley). Right now you can listen to the dark and smoldering "For the Sun" below.

Stephen and Marissa will be playing a few shows in celebration of the album: Brooklyn's Saint Vitus on June 13, Providence's Columbus Theatre on June 14, and Allston, MA's Great Scott on June 15. Tickets for Saint Vitus go on sale Friday, March 15 at 10 AM.

You can also catch Marissa at the 2019 edition of Other Music & MoMA PS1's "Come Together" indie label market and music festival on March 23 at MoMA PS1. The two day festival also includes performances by Black Sabbath Cover Band Rehearsal (which features Nick Zinner, Deradoorian and more), DJ Jay DanielBarrieGong Gong Gong, and Tabby Wakes. Tickets are on sale.

This project follows Marissa Nadler's recent collaboration with John Cale. Brodsky is also busy this year with Old Man Gloom and New Idea Society.
