Earlier this year, Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodksy (Cave In, Mutoid Man, etc) put their heads together for the great collaborative album Droneflower (which made Stephen's Cave In bandmate Adam McGrath's year-end list), which includes eight original songs plus covers of Guns N' Roses' "Estranged' and Morphine's "In Spite of Me." Today, they released two more collaborative covers that didn't make the album: Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" and Extreme's "More Than Words." These are both songs that you might consider "guilty pleasures" (or maybe not! YMMV), but there's nothing guilty about Marissa and Stephen's takes. They make them both sound way more haunting than the originals, and though these songs are unmistakable even in this format, the duo really make them both their own. Listen below.
