Mark Hoppus launches new project Simple Creatures, shares "Drug"

We just mentioned earlier this week that blink-182’s Mark Hoppus was teasing a new project, and now it’s here. It’s called Simple Creatures and it’s a collaboration with All Time Low singer Alex Gaskarth. Their first single is “Drug,” which is more of a festival-ready alt-pop stomper than you might expect from two pop punk musicians, and you can hear it below.

The song will appear on a new EP that’s due out in March. Talking about “Drug,” Hoppus told Kerrang: “‘Drug’ is always the first song we play people when introducing them to Simple Creatures, so it only makes sense that it’s the first single. I love the ratty guitar lead mixed with the thumping kick drum. Lyrically, the song is about being destroyed by the things you love.”

blink-182 are also working on a new album, have a collaboration with The Chainsmokers on the way, and are headlining Back To The Beach and Riot Fest this year.
