Martin Scorsese making a Ramones film

Ramones

There’s been plenty going on for the Ramones 40th anniversary (and in the wake of the passing of Tommy Ramone, their last original member). NYC has already had one anniversary celebration and there’s another coming. A new ‘best of’ is on the way and Morrissey is compiling the tracklist. And they were just honored in NYC this past weekend by Arcade Fire.

Now, a new Billboard article reveals that even more is coming. Influential filmmaker Martin Scorsese is planning to make a film on the band, and there will also be a theatrical play, a book, and a documentary with footage from the ’70s and ’80s shot by George Seminara. Remastered music and new apparel are planned as well.

As previously discussed, Richie Ramone (member from ’83-’87) is playing NYC with The Queers soon, and CJ Ramone (’89 to ’96) signed to Fat Wreck Chords and is touring Brazil as we speak. Marky Ramone is also touring Brazil and other South American countries with Michale Graves in November.
