Mass Gothic covered His Electro Blue Voice, playing Rough Trade this weekend w/ Black Kids (who're releasing a new LP)

Mass Gothic, the current project of Noel Heroux (Hooray for Earth) have covered fellow Sub Pop band His Electro Blue Voice‘s single “Sea Bug.” They leave some of the original’s griminess but give it an almost ’80s goth sheen. Noel says, “Jess (Zambri) was specifically excited to sing ‘I’m ready to be a tuna.'” If you’re ready to hear that, the cover premieres right here:

Mass Gothic play NYC’s Rough Trade on Saturday (10/29) with Black Kids and tickets are on sale. Black Kids, meanwhile, are not only still together but are finally set to release the follow-up to 2008’s ill-fated Partie Traumatic. It’ll be out next year, details TBA, but first single “Obligatory Drugs”– a fun little party jam — is out now. You can check out the video, which was directed by the band’s drummer, below.
