Matt Berninger sang with Julien Baker, boygenius covered The Killers at final tour stop (watch)

Julien Baker and The National frontman Matt Berninger go way back – Julien opened dates for Matt’s side project with Brent Knopf, EL VY, in NYC in 2015, and provided an intro and backing vocals to The National’s performance of “Fake Empire” at Eaux Claires in July. Matt and Julien reunited onstage on Friday (11/30) at The Wiltern in LA, where, as Stereogum reports, they performed “All I Want,” a song Matt and film composer Stephan Altman contributed to the documentary American Chaos. Stephan and Phoebe Bridgers drummer Marshall Vore joined them for the performance, which you can watch below.

UPDATE: “All I Want” is also being released as a 7″ vinyl single on December 14 for Volume 2 of the 7-Inches for Planned Parenthood series. More information about Volume 2 still to come.

Friday’s show at The Wiltern was the final stop on Julien’s tour with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, where they’d been performing songs from their excellent collaborative boygenius EP in addition to each playing their own sets. In Seattle, the trio added a cover of The Dixie Chicks’ “Cowboy Take Me Away” to their joint set, and in LA and the tour’s previous show in San Diego, they covered The Killers’ “Read My Mind.” Watch that below as well.
