Free rehearsal space for NYC musicians (sign up now!)
Mayor Bill de Blasio has designated June as New York Music Month, an initiative that includes resources for musicians, conferences, workshops, and free shows, as well as the already-announced Governors Ball, Northside Fest, Make Music NY, and the opening weekends of SummerStage and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival.
Another highlight of New York Music Month is the 2000+ hours of free rehearsal space that will be made available at Spaceworks' 20 studios. NYC-based musicians are eligible to take advantage of this promotion, which is being underwritten by The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. To start, request a Spaceworks card, and register at Spaceworks. The Spaceworks studios are located in Long Island City (four dance/theater studios and one music studio), at Williamsburgh Library (one multi-purpose rehearsal room, one music studio and four visual arts studios), and at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (thirteen music studios and one multi-purpose rehearsal room). Visit Spacework's site for more information about their locations.
