Menace Beach

Leeds band Menace Beach will release their debut album, Ratworld, on January 27. Indebted to '90s college radio -- a lot of indie rock, with a little MBV "glide guitar" slathered on here and there -- the album is jam-packed with big hooks and catchy choruses, plus noisy freakouts and beautiful parts, too. The band is ostensibly Ryan Needham and Liza Violet, but MJ from Hookworms produced the album and also plays bass in the live band (which also includes Nestor from Sky Larkin on drums). Along with the new Twerps album (to mention two), indie rock is alive and well and worth listening to in 2015. You can stream the whole thing, via Hype Machine, below.

Menace Beach will be on a UK tour this month and those dates are listed below. No dates for North America, but you can catch MJ with Hookworms in April.
