Merchandise have announced details of their new album which is titled A Corpse Wired for Sound and will be out September 23 via 4AD. The band recorded the album in Italy and Florida with the core of Carson Cox, Dave Vassalotti, and Pat Brady (bass). They've also just released a second song from the LP, "End of the Week," as well as its video which was directed by Cox as an homage to Michelangelo Antonioni (Blow Up, Zabriskie Point). Says Cox, "The smashed mirror isn't just a symbol of death. It's the broken image of humanity reflecting back at everyone when they read the news. Reality is an unbearable pill to swallow this year. Somehow the evil people that make up society can still wake up everyday and look at themselves in the mirror." Watch below.

The band's tour, which is with Public Memory, starts in September and will roll through the NYC area for two shows: Brooklyn's Market Hotel on October 9 with Flasher, and Jersey City's WFMU Monty Hall on October 11. Tickets for both of those shows are still available.
