Earlier this year, Mercury Rev released the guest-filled Bobbie Gentry tribute album The Delta Sweete Revisited with lead vocals by Norah Jones, Margo Price, Phoebe Bridgers, Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Vashti Bunyan, Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Lætitia Sadier (Stereolab), Kaela Sinclair (M83), Beth Orton, Susanne Sundfør, Lucinda Williams, Marissa Nadler, and Carice van Houten. Now, they are gearing up to support the album on a West Coast tour and they'll be joined by during their sets by album guest Beth Orton. The shows will also be opened by another of the album's singers, Marissa Nadler, and Marissa wrote on her Instagram story, "I think they are gonna let me do backup vocals after my set." That would be very cool -- stay tuned!

On working with Beth, Mercury Rev's Jesse Chandler said:

When Jonathan, Grasshopper and I were discussing who could sing on our Bobbie Gentry: Delta Sweete Revisited album, Beth’s name popped up instantly. We are all long-time fans. Her heart-wrenching vocals on “Courtyard” from said album is so captivating in itself, and the opportunity to hear Beth sing the rest of the songs on Bobbie’s album as well promises to be as magical as a jaunt through the Spanish moss and fireflies of an enchanted Mississippi eve.

The tour hits Solona Beach, Pioneertown, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle. Tickets here.

Mercury Rev also play Upstate NY's Dirt Farmer Festival on 9/6-9/7 with Midnight Ramble Band, Steve Earle, Amy Helm, Anders Osborne, Phil Cook, and more; and Austin's Levitation. All dates are listed below.
