Metal Allegiance

Metal Allegiance playing Deep Purple's 'Made in Tokyo' in full at Saint Vitus

Metal supergroup Metal Allegiance have announced a one-off NYC show before they head to Europe to play Bloodstock fest. They’ll take the stage at Saint Vitus on August 11 with Chains Over Razors, Martyrd, and Magus Beast. This will probably be a very long show, as Metal Allegiance have promised to not only play their usual set of covers and originals that they’ll be bringing to Bloodstock, but also to pay tribute to the great Deep Purple by covering the entirety of their classic live album Made in Tokyo. Tickets for this are on sale now.

The lineup of Metal Allegience has changed a bit since we last saw them. They now feature the venerable Bumblefoot stepping in for Megadeth’s David Ellefson. He joins regular members Mark Menghi, Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Mark Osegueda (Death Angel, who are touring with Slayer). They’ve promised to announce more members, and there’s no word yet on who will be playing drums (it was previously Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater).

That UK festival Bloodstock is one of many absolutely stacked European metal fests. After the Brooklyn show, Metal Allegiance heads over there to join up with the likes of Mastodon, Slayer, Anthrax, Behemoth, Gojira, Venom, Corrosion of Conformity, and Paradise Lost, among others. Tickets for that are on sale now.

Deep Purple were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though their manager didn’t allow Ritchie Blackmore to appear at the ceremony.

Check out a video of Metal Allegiance talking about the Ritchie Blackmore/Deep Purple split, along with a trailer for the Saint Vitus show, their video for “Gift of Pain,” and the full lineup for Bloodstock Fest, below.
