Metal tours announced: Weedeater, Judas Priest, Demilich, Tool, Amorphis, Baroness, more
Tons of shows get announced every week, and it can be hard to keep up. Here are all the heavy music (metal, hardcore & more) tours, shows & fests that we posted on BV this week, and some new ones too…
WEEDEATER / THE GODDAMN GALLOWS
Stoner metal greats Weedeater are beginning a co-headlining tour with psychobilly/punk band The Goddamn Gallows this Saturday (2/29) (which hits Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on 3/4 with The Atomic Bitchwax), and those two bands also just added new West Coast dates with support from HTSOB, including Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Seattle, and more. All newly-added dates here. All previously announced dates here.
MÖRK GRYNING
Swedish black metal vets Mörk Gryning formed all the way back in 1993, broke up in ’05, and reunited in 2016, but they still haven’t toured the US… until now. They’ll go on their first-ever US tour, with support from Brooklyn’s Arsantiqva, this April and May. It starts with an appearance at the Art Noir Extreme II mini black metal festival at Brooklyn’s Paper Box on April 30, which also includes France’s Arkhon Infaustus, Spain’s Noctem, and NJ’s Worthless. The tour then hits Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, and more. All dates here.
RAGE OF ARMAGEDDON 6
NYC old school metal fest Rage of Armageddon returns for its sixth year from September 11-13 at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel. Day one includes German thrash vets Darkness’ first US show ever, Deceased, Bat, Sacrificial Blood, and Teloch Vovin. Day two includes Cleveland black/death vets Nunslaughter, Ares Kingdom, Impaler (35th anniversary of Rise of the Mutants set), Wrath, Queens thrash vets Caligula (first show in 30 years), NJ thrash vets Insaniac (who are reunited after 25 years), Wretch, Eat Lead, and Dimentianon. And lastly, day three has Mexico death metal vets Cenotaph (first NYC show ever), Blood Feast, Abalust (“exclusive show with former members of Abattoir and Blood Lust playing their classics for first time ever in NYC), Heretic, Resistance, Deathrash, Anthropic, and Magus Beast. Tickets and more info here.
DECEASED
For Deceased (who IO has a great 2016 interview with), Rage of Armageddon is one of three shows they currently have scheduled.
JUDAS PRIEST
The legendary Judas Priest are celebrating their 50th anniversary on tour this year, and they just announced a headlining U.S. run for late summer and fall with support from Sabaton.
DEMILICH (full North American tour announced!)
Finnish death metal legends Demilich are playing some rare US shows this spring, surrounding their appearance at Maryland Deathfest. Their current schedule (which was updated with more shows today) includes a show at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus with Outer Heaven.
NECROFEST 2020
Outer Heaven also play the second annual edition of NYC’s Necrofest which goes down June 12-14 at Saint Vitus and the lineup is pretty stacked, with Horrendous, Ascended Dead (first NYC show), Ulthar, Frozen Soul, Vomit Forth, Oxalate, and much more.
AMORPHIS / ENTOMBED AD
Finland’s Amorphis will celebrate their 30th anniversary a band by playing their 1994 melodic death/folk/prog/doom metal classic Tales from the Thousand Lakes in full on a 38-date North American tour. Support comes from Entombed AD (a current version of Swedish death metal legends Entombed) and Brazil thrashers Nervosa.
TOOL
Recent Grammy winners Tool have announced lots more North American dates for their Fear Inoculum tour. The new leg begins April 16 in Miami and includes stops in Baltimore, Monreal, Quebec City, Buffalo, Grand Rapids, Vancouver, Minneapolis, the NYC area, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, San Francisco and more. Blonde Redhead open the first run of shows, from April 16 to May 5, and the Acid Helps open the rest of the non-festival dates.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE / RUN THE JEWELS
Rage Against The Machine are going on a reunion tour, with Run the Jewels opening, beginning in March. They added additional dates to it earlier this month, and now they’ve expanded the tour once again.

The GWARpath rages on.
AGAINST ME / BARONESS
Punk vets Against Me! and proggy sludge metal vets Baroness will do a co-headlining tour this spring, including one leg with garage punks Destroy Boys and another with post-hardcore-ish punks Drug Church.
KING BUZZO / TREVOR DUNN
Melvins’ King Buzzo announced a US tour with occasional collaborator Trevor Dunn, who appears on his upcoming LP Gift of Sacrifice.
TRIUMVIR FOUL & HUMAN AGONY
The previously mentioned tour featuring Portland’s genuinely gross death metallers Triumvir Foul (whose primary members are both also in Ash Borer) and Canadian black/death/war metallers Human Agony, kicks off in New Brunswick, NJ on 2/29 and it hits Worcester, Philly, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Richmond, and DC before wrapping up at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on 3/7, where they’ll have likeminded support from promising local Brooklyn band Bog Body. All dates here.
KNOCKED LOOSE
Knocked Loose are currently set to open for two very popular metal bands this year, first Motionless In White (also with Stick To Your Guns) and then Parkway Drive (also with Hatebreed). All dates here.
BLACK FLAG
Greg Ginn’s current version of Black Flag continue to expand their tour, which now includes upcoming dates in Brooklyn, NJ, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, and more.
DANZIG SINGS ELVIS
Danzig’s Elvis tribute album is coming out April 17 and he’ll celebrate with Danzig Sings Elvis shows in LA and San Francisco in late April. “These will be small intimate seated performances as Danzig wants to try to capture an old Vegas night club atmosphere for these 2 special shows.” Of course he does.
BODY COUNT (NYC OPENERS)
Body Count’s tour is coming up, and the NYC show now has two cool openers: fellow heavy music veterans Cro-Mags (who recently released their first new music in 19 years) and new-ish hardcore supergroup END (members of Counterparts, Shai Hulud, Misery Signals, Fit For An Autopsy, and more).
BLACK MATH HORSEMAN
LA psychedelic post-metallers Black Math Horseman broke up in 2013, four years after releasing their only album (2009’s Wyllt), and in the time since then, bassist/vocalist Sera Timms has stayed busy with her bands Ides of Gemini, Black Mare, and ZUN. Now, after a seven year break, Black Math Horseman will finally reunite. Their first show back is opening the LA stop of YOB’s West Coast tour with the new Unsane offshoot Human Impact.
DAMAGED CITY
The 2020 lineup for DC hardcore festival Damaged City is out, including Trapped Under Ice, Lion of Judah, ’80s-era Finnish bands Destruktions and Appendix, Greece’s Chain Cult, UK band Permission, Colombia’s Raw Brigade, Ekulu, Spine, Subversive Rite, Wound Man, and more.
