Northwest Terror Fest

Metal tours announced: Possessed, Satan, Church of Misery, Evoken, Northwest Terror Fest, more

Tons of shows get announced every week, and it can be hard to keep up. Here are all the heavy music (metal, hardcore & more) tours, shows & fests that we posted on BV this week, and some new ones too…

NORTHWEST TERROR FEST

More bands were added to Seattle’s Northwest Terror Fest (May 30-June 1), and the lineup is now even more stacked than it already was, with Repulsion, Windhand, Suffocation, Wormrot, Ringworm, Blood Incantation, GosT, Mizmor, Miserable (acoustic), Racetraitor, Xibalba, Cloak, Obsequiae, Haunter, Wormwitch, Visigoth, Midnight, and more. check out the full lineup, set times, and ticket availability here.

MIDNIGHT

Speaking of Midnight, don’t forget about their upcoming show in Brooklyn with Sacrifice, and the listening party for their new album at Vitus one night earlier.

SATAN / NIGHT DEMON / HAUNT / BEWITCHER

NWOBHM legends Satan have been active and making very worthy new music again for a while now, and after already announcing they’d be in North America to play the 2020 Philly edition of Decibel Metal & Beer Fest, they now announced a headlining tour that begins right afterwards. Support comes from three newer bands who revive the type of old school heavy metal that Satan helped define: Night Demon, Haunt, and Bewitcher.

UNITED BLOOD 2020 LINEUP

Richmond hardcore festival United Blood announced its 2020 lineup, and it’s a doozy, with Converge, Cold World, War Hungry, Vein, Mindforce, Never Ending Game, Regulate, Division of Mind, Judiciary, and more.

CHURCH OF MISERY

Tokyo doom vets Church of Misery are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a North American tour in February and March, with support varying by date from Black Wizard, Forming the Void, Truckfighters, Valley of the Sun, and Wizard Rifle. Dates and more info here.

POSSESSED / PESTILENCE / THE BLACK MORIAH

Death metal progenitors Possessed returned in 2019 with Revelations of Oblivion, which is their first new album in 33 years and a rock-solid album that was genuinely worth coming back for. In addition to opening one of the San Francisco dates on Mr. Bungle‘s reunion tour in February, Possessed are doing a headlining tour behind the new album in March and April with fellow veteran band Pestilence and comparatively newer band The Black Moriah.

HIGHER POWER / LIFE’S QUESTION / QUEENSWAY / HANGMAN

UK hardcore/alt-rock blenders Higher Power have announced more dates supporting their anticipated sophomore album (and Roadrunner debut) 27 Miles Underwater, including a previously announced West Coast tour with Take Offense and a more recently announced, mostly-East Coast tour after that with Life’s Question on almost all dates, plus Queensway and Hangman on select shows too.

EVOKEN / TOMBS / GREY SKIES FALLEN

Not a tour, but back-in-action NJ funeral doom legends Evoken, Brooklyn metal staples Tombs (who are releasing Monarchy of Shadows, their Season of Mist debut, in February), and Staten Island death-doom vets Grey Skies Fallen (who are releasing Cold Dead Lands on January 24) are teaming for a one-off at Staten Island’s Mother Pugs Saloon on March 20. Newer NJ band Vivisect are on the bill as well. It appears to be the only upcoming date for Evoken, Tombs (whose Mike Hill recently put an Evoken record high on his list of Top 10 Albums of the Decade), and Grey Skies Fallen. Listen to the new Tombs and GSF singles here:

SHEER TERROR

Also not a tour, but NYHC legends Sheer Terror are celebrating their 35th anniversary with a hometown gig at new NYC venue The Monarch Theatre.

FROZEN SOUL

As mentioned, Texas death metal band Frozen Soul — whose hype is growing by the day — are now on tour. They hit Saint Vitus this Sunday with tourmates Steel Bearing Hand and Vomit Forth.
