The release of the first Metallica album in 8 years is almost here, as the band drops Hardwired…To Self Destruct this Friday (11/18). After stoking anticipation with new songs and special shows for the last couple months, they’ve announced record release events around the country for the new record. The “Blackened Friday” event will find music stores around the country staying open until midnight to sell the new album, and fans can get posters and things free along with the record if they show up. You can see details and the list of participating stores on the band’s website.

Meanwhile, Metallica have scheduled another US date in support of Hardwired. They’ll play a hometown show in Oakland at the Fox Theater on December 17. They’ve promised that it will be their last show of 2016 (they currently have a number of other dates scheduled in Europe, Asia, and South America). Tickets go on fan club presale (for a lower price) on Thursday (11/17) at 10 AM Pacific, and on sale to the general public Friday (11/18) at the same time.

Listen to “Moth Into Flame,” “Atlas, Rise!” and “Hardwired” below.
