Mi and L’au make really beautiful music, but it’s sloooooooow and quiet music. They shouldn’t play big (relatively speaking) venues like Knitting Factory on a Saturday night at 10:30 PM to a crowd of people primarily there to witness the extremely lively Akron/Family. (January 14, 2006)

You should be sitting when you watch Mi and L’au. Those who got to the club first did sit. By the time I got in from the blistering cold, the place was packed with people sitting from the stage to the back wall. That left everyone else jammed into the perimeter and bar area. People kept filing in. The sitters made up like 25% of the people, but were taking up like 75% of the space. People near the bar were talking (Mi and L’au were whispering). It seemed hopeless, so I walked out during their first song to check my coat and use the bathroom.

Someone must of yelled “shut the @#$@#$ up!” while I was gone because I returned to find an extremely quiet (but still very crowded) room. Eventually I found a spot and the music started to become like the album (really beautiful, slow and quiet).
