Michelle Wolf hosting White House Correspondents dinner, preps new Netflix talk show, touring
Michelle Wolf is having a big year. Following stints on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (and an HBO special) the comedian is getting her own late night show on Netflix. The show does not have a title yet but Netflix says it "will take a break from the seriousness of late night comedy. Instead of making the news fun, she’ll make fun of everything and everybody. There will be no preaching or political agenda…unless it’s funny." Michelle says, "You can expect the types of jokes my former bosses would tell me we couldn’t do on TV." As they say, stay tuned.
Meanwhile, Michelle has landed the high-profile gig of being this year's entertainer for the annual White House Correspondents Dinner, which has previously this decade been hosted by Hasan Minhaj, Larry Wilmore, Cecily Strong, Joel McHale, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers. The 2018 WHCD, which Donald Trump did not attend in 2017, happens Saturday, April 28.
Michelle also has some live stand-up appearances on her schedule, including a three-night run at NYC's Carolines on Broadway from March 8 - 10 (tickets). She's also playing (as she does a lot) the Comedy Cellar and sister club Village Underground from February 25 - 28 at various times (sometimes more than once a night) including shows with Mike Birbiglia, Chris Gethard, Dave Attell, Todd Barry, Greer Barnes, and more. Check Comedy Cellar's schedule for lineup details and reservations. All upcoming Michelle Wolf dates are listed, along with a few clips of her standup, below.
Meanwhile, do not confuse Michelle Wolf with author Michael Wolff -- despite their similar names and connections to the White House. The former just announced that he will be appearing on May 18 at Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ -- very close to his birth town of Paterson -- to discuss his popular book Fire and Fury. Tickets are on presale now (password: MUSICGEEKS) and go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 23 at 10 AM.
