Michigan trio Major Murphy prep debut LP (listen to "Mary"), touring

Hailing from Grand Rapids, MI, trio Major Murphy make dreampop inspired by the lighter side of the ’70s — more Laurel Canyon than yacht rock — with a lovely magic hour vibe to what they do. (Great harmonies too.) The band are currently working on their debut album but you can check out the wistful, tuneful “Mary,” and check out videos for earlier singles, below.

Major Murphy are on the East Coast this week for a couple of shows including Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on Thursday (11/30) with Rareflowers, and Sofia Bolt (tickets). They also play Philadelphia’s Nacho House on Friday (12/1, more info). The band’s only other show is a hometown show at Grand Rapids’ The Pyramid Scheme on 12/16. Dates are listed below.
