Mike Krol releasing LP on Merge, touring (dates, streams)

Mike Krol makes smartass, punky guitar pop and you can hear the sneer coming through loud and clear. After releasing two 10″ records via his own Counter Counter Culture label, Krol moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles, and signed with Merge Records who will release his new record, Turkey, on August 28. Nine songs in 18 minutes, it’s powerpop that is over before you know what hit you. If you miss Jay Reatard, Mike’s got some of the same spirit. (It’s also not too far off from Wavves.) You can check out “This is the News” which Krol says is “my Declaration of Independence, my Manifest Destiny, my Treaty of Versailles, and my answer to ‘Shout’ by the Isley Brothers.” Stream it, and watch an album trailer, below.
Krol will be going on the “Ball & Chain” tour this fall, which includes two NYC stops: September 28 at Cake Shop and September 29 at Baby’s All Right.
