Misfits drummer Joey Image has reportedly passed away at the age of 63. The New York Hardcore Chronicles shared the news on Facebook, writing, “Joey Image of The Misfits dead at 63. Rest in Peace.”

Joey was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, and was seeking treatment at University of Miami, where he was a possible candidate for a liver transplant, he wrote in a GoFundMe.

Joey was in Misfits between 1978 and 1979 and drummed on the Horror Business EP, the “Night of the Living Dead” single, and part of the Beware EP, and his contributions can be heard on the classic Legacy of Brutality and self-titled compilation albums. He briefly reunited with the band for a live performance in 2000 as well.
