Mitski has contributed a studio recording of "Cop Car" for The Turning, a new film adaptation of Henry James’ classic 1898 horror novella The Turn Of The Screw from director Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways, The Handmaid's Tale). It's a song she's had in her repertoire for years, but it finally makes its studio debut now. Swirling, dark and shoegazy, "Cop Car" sounds like a good choice for psychological horror. You can listen below.

The Turning also features songs from Courtney Love, Kim Gordon, Soccer Mommy, Empress Of, Vagabon, Cherry Glazerr, Lawrence Rothman (who is a producer on the film) and more. The Turning stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt & Catch Fire), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It) and is out, along with the soundtrack, on Friday (1/24). You can watch the trailer below.

Meanwhile, Mitski may have taken a sabbatical from playing live shows, but she did tape an episode of long-running PBS concert series Austin City Limits before she did, and that aired this past weekend. You can watch "Happy" from that below.
