Modern English playing 'After the Snow' in full on 40th anniversary tour

Modern English are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year by going on a North American tour that will have them playing their hit 1982 album After the Snow — which features “I Melt With You,” “Life in the Gladhouse” and “Someone’s Calling” — in full, along with songs from the rest of their catalog. “Recording ‘After the Snow’ with Hugh Jones as Producer was an incredible experience,” says frontman Robbie Grey. “To say it changed our lives forever would be an understatement. The band wants to bring this experience to a live audience as we play the album in its entirety for the first time. We want to bring a creative and memorable atmosphere to a tour which will be very special for us.”

West Coast dates of the tour are with Actors, while Bootblacks will join for the rest of the tour which includes a NYC show at Sony Hall on July 2 and a NJ show at Asbury Lanes on July 5. Tickets for Sony Hall and Asbury Lanes will be on sale soon.

In other news, Modern English are releasing a new 12″ of “I Melt With You” for Record Store Day 2020 with “Trees” and “Moonbeam” from 2016’s Take Me To The Trees on the b-side and a new sleeve designed by the late Vaughan Oliver who designed their original sleeves for 4AD.
