Mogwai

As my friend David and I were being hurled around the mosh pit at the Terminal 5 show of legendary post-rock ensemble Mogwai, I thought back to how earlier that day I had assured my mom that there wouldn’t be any moshing. “Mom,” I said, “Mogwai’s music is too ambient to mosh to.” Post-rock is an ambient genre, that’s true; it’s ethereal and sedate. However, it can often get pretty heavy, and Mogwai totally proved that on Friday, May 9. [Scene Point Blank]

Post rock giants Mogwai brought their tour with Majeure to NYC for a big show at Terminal 5 this past Friday (5/9). They included a handful of tracks from their new album, Rave Tapes, but reached back for old favorites like “Mogwai Fear Satan,” “Ex-Cowboy,” and others too. Pictures of the show (including one of the setlist) are in this post.

Mogwai also just made a video for “Simon Ferocious” from Rave Tapes, and added more dates to their tour. Watch the new video, with the updated list of dates, and more pictures and a couple videos from Terminal 5, below…
