Long running NJ-based riff rock outfit Monster Magnet returned with this year’s very good Mindfucker, which proved that even after all these years, the band is still very capable of making killer rock songs. They’ve supported the record on tour this year, and they’ll be going back on the road in a few weeks for a show at Asbury Park, NJ’s House of Independents on 12/30 (tickets), before a long stint in Europe. You can view all those dates below.

As the year winds down, we asked guitarist Phil Caivano what his favorite albums of the year were, and he sent back some interesting choices, with some non-2018 releases as well. Check out his picks below.

American Nightmare – Gloom for Ever

Cant stop listening to it. “Flowers Under Siege”… great video. Wes is a true artist.

Nine Inch Nails – Bad Witch

Amazing.

Laughing Hyenas – Come Down to the Merry Go Round / You Can’t Pray A Lie (reissues)

What else can I say. Most people can’t even get it right for one band! John [Brannon] did it for three!!!

The Velvet Underground – White Light/White Heat

Yeah, it came out in 1968. Can’t stop listening to it. Everyone should take the time to see the Velvet Underground Experience exhibit up in NYC until the end of December. What they did and left us is unreal. More relevant today than ever.

13th Floor Elevators – Easter Everywhere

Ok I know, another one that didn’t come out this year. I listened to Roky Erickson more this year then any other artist. He’s and American treasure. He should be worshiped!

Madball – For The Cause

Freddie and Hoya! Beyond hardcore. Great guys, incredible live band.

Fireburn – EP

Thank You Todd… R.I.P.

Monster Magnet – Mindfucker

Thank you very much for the support!!!
