Montreal avant rock band Fly Pan Am formed in 1996 and were part of the city's burgeoning instrumental/experimental scene that included Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Exhaust, and others. They incorporated krautrock, shoegaze and electronics into their sound and signed to Constellation Records, releasing four records over the next decade. The band broke up in 2006, but reformed last year and are now back with C'est ça, their first album in fifteen years. They are still making challenging, sometimes very hooky music, that mixes noise, melody, atmospheric soundscapes, and wild rhythms into their brand of rock. C'est ça should appeal to fans of My Bloody Valentine, Godspeed!, Broadcast or Lightning Bolt and you can listen below.

Fly Pan Am kick off their Canadian fall tour with a record release show in Montreal tonight (9/20). They're also backing dancers from UK-based collective United Visual Artists for choreographer Dana Gingras new work, FRONTERA, which will be performed in Montreal and Ottawa in December.
