Morrissey played "The More You Ignore Me the Closer I Get" for the 1st time in 15 years at Broadway Night 3 (setlist, video)

Props to Morrissey, who has been doing a good job of mixing up his setlists at his Broadway residency so far, including some songs he hasn’t pulled out in ages. Night three (5/4) began with his biggest U.S. hit, 1994’s “The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get,” which, according to Setlist.fm, is the first time he’s played it in 15 years. He also played The Smiths’ “Girl Afraid,” which is only the second time he’s ever sung it live as a solo artist. He also played another Viva Hate deep cut, “Dial a Cliche,” and Your Arsenal favorite “You’re the One for Me, Fatty.”

Much of the rest of the setlist remained the same, including “How Soon is Now,” “The Bullfighter Dies,” covers of Jobriath’s “Morning Starship” (from his forthcoming California Son) and The Pretenders’ “Back on the Chain Gang,” “Alma Matters,” “Jack the Ripper,” “Hairdresser on Fire,” and more. Setlist and videos from Morrissey on Broadway Night 3 are below.

Moz takes Sunday and Monday off but returns for his fourth show at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater on Tuesday (5/7).  Some tickets remain for these shows and Morrissey will be back in August with Interpol.

Check out our review of Night 2, plus a recap of Night 1.
