Morrissey playing 'Kimmel,' reschedules tour (updated dates); Staples Center show may or may not be 100% meat-free

Morrissey, who has been battling Barrett’s Esophagus which forced him to cancel quite a few shows on his 2013 tour, is on the mend and will restart his tour this week with a performance at San Diego’s Balboa Theater on Wednesday (2/27). The day before (Tues, 2/26) he’ll perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Among those dates are this Friday’s show (3/1) at LA’s Staples Center with Patti Smith. Morrissey had announced that the concession stands there would be vegetarian — a first for the venue — but Staples Center is now saying that is not the case. While the McDonalds franchises there will be closed for Moz’s show and they have added to the menu such items as vegan sloppy Joes, vegan sushi and hummus, all regular concession stand items will be available. Morrissey, however, fired back saying:

Reports that the Staples Center will not be 100% vegetarian on March 1st are playfully untrue. Contractually, all McDonalds vendors shall be closed down, and the only thing burning shall be my heart.
