Morrissey wore pin from far-right group “For Britain” on ‘Fallon’ appearance
Morrissey just wrapped up a seven-night Broadway run at the Lunt-Fontanne that was notable for him digging deep into his catalog and for him thankfully not saying anything dumb on subjects such as, but not limited to, nationalism, race, or immigration. So much for good will: He appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (5/13) to play his cover of Jobriath's "Morning Starship" (from new covers LP California Son), and affixed to his jacket was a pin for "For Britain," a far-right political party started by anti-Islam activist Anne Marie Waters. Moz has endorsed For Britain in the past, though he says they aren't racist or fascist, and he was wearing the pin during the Lunt-Fontanne shows too. Pitchfork reports that For Britain have thanked Morrisey for his support. You can watch Morrissey's Fallon appearance below.
Morrissey's new album, California Son, is out next week and features appearances from Ed Droste, Billie Joe Armstrong, Petra Haden and more. He'll tour with Interpol later this year.
