Moses Boyd

Moses Boyd & Poppy Ajudha share collab, "Shades Of You"

Ahead of his appearance at tonight’s Gilles Peterson-hosted PRS Foundation & BBC Music Introducing Winter Jazzfest showcase, South London drummer/composer Moses Boyd has shared a third single off his upcoming album Dark Matter, which comes out February 14 via Exodus Records. Moses hails from London’s thriving jazz scene, and — like a handful of his peers — has a real knack for combining jazz with very modern sounds (as you might guess from his long list of collaborators, who include Sampha, Little Simz, Four Tet, Floating Points, Beyonce, Sons of Kemet, and more). That’s especially true on this song, which features soul singer Poppy Ajudha and has more in common with avant-pop than traditional jazz. Listen, alongside streams of Moses’ two previous singles, below.

Poppy Ajudha also plays that same showcase tonight, as do Ashley Henry and Sarathy Korwar. Kokoroko were supposed to play but had to drop off due to visa issues. It goes down at Le Poisson Rouge, and tickets are still available.
