Motörhead "is over, of course" says drummer Mikkey Dee

Lemmy

The world got a little quieter yesterday and we are still reeling from the loss of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. You might think it would go without saying but drummer Mikkey Dee, who has been in the band since 1992, confirms that the group are officially disbanded. “Motörhead is over, of course. Lemmy was Motörhead,” Dee told Swedish paper Expressen. “But the band will live on in the memories of many…We won’t be doing any more tours or anything. And there won’t be any more records.” Dee added that their last tour, which wrapped up in Berlin in early December, was tough for Lemmy. “He was terribly gaunt, he spent all his energy on stage and afterwards he was very, very tired. It’s incredible that he could even play, that he could finish the Europe tour. It was only 20 days ago. Unbelievable.”

If you’ve never seen it, 2010 documentary Lemmy is fantastic and you can watch that, as well as check out Motörhead’s 1985 10th Anniversary show at Hammersmith Odeon, London, below…
