Mott The Hoople ’74, which reunited Ian Hunter with his with former bandmates Ariel Bender and Morgan Fisher, have been out on the road celebrating the 45th anniversary of the band’s 1974 tour, which is also the first time these three have toured the U.S. together since then. The tour wrapped up on Wednesday (4/10) at NYC’s Beacon Theatre with Jakob Dylan’s band The Wallflowers opening the night. They played many favorites, including UK hits “The Golden Age of Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “Honaloochie Boogie” and “Roll Away the Stone,” as well as their cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Jane” (which they released as a single in 1972). The main set finished with a covers medley of rock n’ roll classics, but they saved their most famous songs for the encore: “All the Way to Memphis” and the David Bowie-penned “All the Young Dudes” which Jakob Dylan joined them on. Hunter was in fine form but Bender may have stolen the show.

Pics from the night are in the gallery above and the Beacon setlist and a few videos are below.

Ian Hunter will be back in NYC for a string of four shows at City Winery from May 31-June 3 (tickets).
