If you’re a Mr. Robot fan, you’re likely attuned to the high level of detail the people behind all facets of the show strive for. The coding is as authentic as possible. Elliot’s journal was as true to the show as possible. And for those Mr. Robot savvy people who found the secret URL in the RSVP confirmation for the Ecoin Launch event at Terminal 5, their reward was to experience the launch as part of the F Society. Unlike “regular” E Corp invitees, they entered the event via the back of Terminal 5 through some school buses. Then, the hacker faction got to participate in a little “hacking” action backstage as part of their reward, and even received a duffel containing an F Society mask. (One can only wonder what role the Dark Army played in the night.)

The event was promoted by BBQ Films, a group that puts on immersive cinematic experiences. It was not accidentally being held on the first day of New York Comic Con, and fans of the show were out in full force. All attendees were treated to set of raucous cover songs from The Keystrokes, free food (including passed hors d’oeuvres like lobster mac), an open bar (served in actual glass, not plastic!), and a presentation to launch ECoin from E Corp CEO Phillip Price (aka the great Michael Cristofer). Price’s presentation got cut short though by the devious hackers. As F Society members took the stage, the E Corp logo came down and the screen turned back on. Their message? A “previously on” Mr. Robot catch up and a screening of the first episode of Mr. Robot season 3, which premieres on October 11th. The end of the episode marked the conclusion of the night — guests poured out of Terminal 5 to find themselves facing off against F Society protesters.
