My Brightest Diamond

My Brightest Diamond announces new LP, shares song, touring with Stars

After talking about it for quite some time, My Brightest Diamond has finally announced her new album. It’s called A Million and One and it’s due out November 23 via Rhyme & Reason Records. It was produced by The Twilite Tone, who’s usually known for working with rappers/hip hop groups (like Kanye West, Gorillaz, Pusha T, Big Sean, and Common), and new single “It’s Me On The Dance Floor” is more electronic and danceable than we usually expect from MBD. “I wanted to write a dance song that wasn’t about hooking up with someone, or looking outside myself for something, but about finding myself through movement, exploring my own body,” said main member Shara Nova. “Sometimes I will go to a club and don’t want to be distracted by everyone else’s energy, but I want to dance hard, so I face the wall, playing with what shadows I can create, not caring if other people watch, or don’t watch. How hard can I push myself until my body is completely exhausted on the dance floor and then in the exhausted state; how can I find other kinds of movements?” It’s a good look for her, and it’s keeping our anticipation high for the rest of this album. Listen below.

The album also includes the songs “Champagne” and “A Million Pearls,” which came out as a single earlier this year, and those are cut from a similarly danceable cloth. You can listen to those below too. MBD also made a “Diamond on the Dance Floor” playlist, which includes “Champagne” plus music by Boys Noize, Prince, Kraftwerk, Earth Wind & Fire, Rihanna, Michael Jackson, Bjork, and more. MBD was also tapped to open StarsNorth American fall tour, including the NYC show on December 10 at Brooklyn Steel (tickets). All dates are listed below.
