My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way shares new song “Here Comes The End”
My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way has shared a new single, "Here Comes the End." It's a glammy stomper and with backing vocals from Judith Hill, that sounds somewhere between The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones, or like something Primal Scream might've released during peak Britpop '90s.
The song is from Season 2 of Netflix's superhero misfits series The Umbrella Academy, which is based on Gerard Way's comic of the same name. "I was originally inspired to write this track when series one of Umbrella Academy was being shot," says Way. "By the time I finished it 2020 was in full swing, the world had taken a profound turn and the song was finished in a surreal new reality." You can listen to that below.
The second season of The Umbrella Academy drops July 31 on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
In other news, My Chemical Romance postponed their big reunion tour to 2021 and there's a new MCR Funko Pop available for preorder. Gerard also released two very good garage punk songs earlier this year.
