My Morning Jacket backing Ray LaMontagne on tour; Carl Broemel releasing solo LP

Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket has announced that he’ll be releasing a new solo album called 4th of July, currently slated for release on August 19 under his new label Stocks in Asia alongside Thirty Tigers.

The LP features guest appearances from My Morning Jacket bandmates Bo Koster and Tom Blankenship, as well Neko Case, Laura Veirs, Russ Pollard, Shelly Colvin, Richard Medek and Jordan Caress.

The first single, “Sleepy Lagoon,” was released today. Listen here:

On top of that, Broemel and the rest of My Morning Jacket (with the exception of Jim James) are currently on tour backing Ray LaMontagne in support of his new album Ouroboros.

That tour hits Brooklyn next week (6/22) at Prospect Park as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival (a venue Neko Case and Laura Veirs also play this summer). Tickets for that show are still available here. The rest of the tour dates are listed below.

Broemel will also begin a solo tour soon, with four dates announced and more to come. A list of the current tour dates is below.
