Natalie Prass announces new LP, shares first single, touring

Natalie Prass has announced her new album The Future and The Past which will be her first album for ATO and is out June 1. With the new label and new record comes a new musical direction, ditching the Disney princess comparisons for lite funk/soul, not unlike early ’90s Shanice/Brandy (or lots of stuff from the late ’70s). She worked again with Matthew E. White at his Spacebomb Studios, but also collaborated with Blue (Solange, Blood Orange, Carly Rae Jepsen) and Michael Brauer (Elle King. James Bay). Her new style comes through loud and clear on the album’s first single “Short Court Style” which comes a video that tips its hat to the early ’90s too. Watch that below.

You can catch Natalie Prass on tour starting this week where she’ll open for Fleet Foxes on dates in the South. She’ll then head to Austin for SXSW, and she’s got a few East Coast shows the weekend her album is out, including NYC’s Rough Trade on June 1. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, March 2 at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (2/28) at noon. All dates are listed below.
