Neil Young and Promise of the Real at Capitol Theatre

Neil Young played a different set of classics at the Cap night 2 (pics, setlist, videos)

Neil Young played his second of two consecutive shows at the Capitol Theatre last night (9/27), and like on night one, he and his backing band Promise of the Real mostly eschewed their recent material in favor of a setlist full of classics. They also drastically switched up the setlist from night one. Night two got another hefty dose of ’60s and ’70s classics, including three songs from Tonight’s the Night (“World on a String,” “Albuquerque,” and “Speakin’ Out”) that Neil had never played live with Promise of the Real before. They also did “Out on the Weekend,” “Field of Opportunity,” “I’ve Been Waiting for You,” “Heart of Gold,” “Powderfinger,” and CSNY’s “Ohio,” plus some classics from Neil’s late ’80s/early ’90s comeback period like “Love to Burn,” “Love and Only Love,” “From Hank to Hendrix,” “Rockin’ in the Free World,” and “Mansion on the Hill.” They did one recent Neil Young + Promise of the Real song, “Children of Destiny,” and they did PotR original “Turn off the News” (with PotR’s Lukas Nelson — Willie’s son — on lead vocals) as well as “Everything Is Bullshit” by Particle Kid, the project of Lukas’ brother Micah Nelson (with Micah on lead vocals).

We’ve got pictures of the show coming soon. UPDATE: Check out pictures from Thursday night’s show in the gallery above, and videos, and the full setlist below.
