Nellie McKay

Singer/songwriter/actress Nellie McKay released the '60s covers album My Weekly Reader and toured earlier this year, and now she's set to hit the road again. Her current schedule of dates begins this week, and includes a NYC show on July 23 at Le Poisson Rouge. The show's with her band, the Kosmic X-Rays ("Kosmic" with a "K" as an ode to Janis Joplin), which features Alexi David (bass), Cary Park (guitar), and Kenneth Salters (drums). Ninety-one-year old jazz pianist and "Schoolhouse Rock!" composer Bob Dorough (who Nellie's collaborated with) will be a special guest for the evening as well. Tickets for LPR are on sale.
