Nelly Furtado announces John Congleton-produced album, shares “Pipe Dreams”
Nelly Furtado made something of a comeback earlier this year with her Blood Orange collaboration "Hadron Collider" (which later appeared on Blood Orange's Freetown Sound), and now she's announced a new solo album, The Ride. It was produced by the great indie rock producer John Congleton (who works with Angel Olsen, St. Vincent, Swans, and many more), and here's what Nelly told The FADER about working with him:
It was kind of cool, because I'm super pop – I really gravitate toward pop melodies when I write – but John is really interesting and might rearrange my pop song into more of a punk arrangement, nothing like what I would do.
The first single is "Pipe Dreams," and you can definitely hear her and Congleton's styles clashing on it (in a good way). Listen and watch the album trailer below.
The Ride is set to drop on March 3, 2017, and it'll be her first album since 2012's The Spirit Indestructible.
