Neneh Cherry has had an elegant second act, coming back to music in 2014 with the Blank Project (her first album in nearly two decades) and continuing that album's collaboration with Four Tet on 2018's Broken Politics. She's remained a fierce iconoclast and even if the music she's made has mellowed, she has not. Having only played her first NYC show ever in 2015 in support of Blank Project, NYC has luckily already gotten her a few times for the latest album, and Tuesday's set at Bushwick club Elsewhere was nearly identical to her December shows at National Sawdust, with most of it dedicated to the new album. She also played Blank Project's title cut, Raw Like Sushi's "Manchild" and, for the encore, a cover of Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin" and her 1989 hit "Buffalo Stance," which she's reworked into her current style. Setlist is below.

Opening the night were two forward-thinking pop/R&B performers who fit right in with Neneh: Ian Isiah and LAFAWNDAH. Pictures from their sets, and the whole night, are in the gallery above.
