The 2017 New Yorker Festival happens October 7 - 9 in New York City with all manner of talks, performances and other special events dealing with books, music, film, television, politics, art, and other subjects. Tickets to all New Yorker Festival events go on sale Friday, September 9 at noon with a Mastercard presale beginning Thursday (9/8) at 11 AM.

There are three music related events, all of which happen at Gramercy Theater. On October 7 at 7 PMAndrew Bird will be in conversation with surgeon author and public heath researcher Atul Gawande, and he'll also perform live; then at 10 PM on 10/7, Jason Isbelll will be in conversation with technology/pop culture journalist John Seabrook, and he'll also perform live; and on October 8 Father John Misty will perform live after a conversation with Matthew Trammell.

On the TV/film front, there's a Mr. Robot Panel Discussion at the SVA Theatre on 10/8; writer/director Paul Feig will be in conversation with Tad Friend at SVA on 10/9; filmmaker Whit Stillman talks with Richard Brody at SVA on 10/7; and Jay & Mark Duplass (Togetherness, The Comfy Chair) will be in conversation with Emma Allen; plus conversations with Jonah Hill (10/8), Daniel Craig (10/7), John Goodman (10/9) and  more.

There are some exciting comedy talks: David Letterman will be in conversation with Susan Morrisson on 10/7 at the SVA; and also at SVA on 10/7, Louis CK will talk with New Yorker television critic Emily Nussbaum; as well as conversations with Keegan-Michael Key (10/8), Sarah Silverman (10/8) and Nick Kroll (10/9).

Plus: Malcolm Gladwell, Nan Goldin, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Safran Foer, Jeremy Lin, a few foodie events and more.
